About Katie & Jack
Jack was born in Warsaw, Poland, and moved to the rolling hills of Staten Island, NYC, when he was 6 years old. Katie was born into a farming family in Ohio but moved to NYC after college at The Ohio State University to pursue a life of paying way too much in rent. They met in 2005 when Katie began working at the same tech company Jack had started at right after finishing college at Stony Brook University on Long Island.
In 2010, Jack decided to buy an apartment in Brooklyn, and Katie told him that if he got one with two bedrooms, she’d be his roommate and help pay for a bigger place that he could someday share with his wife and kids. But by the summer of 2013, Jack and Katie were doing everything together–staying up late listening to music, planning happy hours with their shared group of friends, going on long walks on the Brooklyn waterfront . . . so of course Katie developed a little crush on Jack. And six months later, Jack finally developed a little crush on Katie, too!
On December 27th, 2016, Jack and Katie were relaxing at a resort in the Dominican Republic, when Jack asked Katie if she wanted to take some photos of the beach with him at night. There in the dark with no one else around, he got down on one knee, popped open a little box with a light inside shining on the prettiest ring Katie had ever seen, and asked her to marry him.
